How We Work

What to expect from your financial planner.

We implement a 7-step process to create your perfect financial plan.

  1. At our initial meeting, we start with a Financial Health Check.

We talk about what’s most important to you – your financial and life goals. It’s best to meet in-person, but if it’s more convenient, we can meet over the phone. I’ll also send you a copy of the Financial Services Guide (FSG) which outlines the regulations around financial services. At this stage, there’s no obligation to go ahead.

  2. Initial plan.

Based on our earlier discussion, I delve a bit deeper and come up with some initial recommendations that fit your risk profile and help you reach your goals.

I’ll also detail how I’ll be paid for my services. And I’ll try and keep the jargon to a minimum!

  3. Digging into the details.

If you’re happy with our discussion so far, we dig a bit deeper into your financial goals and life plans.

  4. Thorough analysis and advice.

I present an in-depth analysis and confirm my recommendations in a Statement of Advice. This is your financial roadmap.

  5. Review and revise.

We review the Statement of Advice and make any changes you need to ensure you’re happy with the recommendations.

  6. We get started, putting your plan into action.

Should we need the help of other specialists (lawyers, mortgage brokers, debt advisers), I’ll make the appropriate introductions.

  7. What next?

Your financial plan should be dynamic – there’s no ‘set and forget’!

We review the progress of your financial plan at least once a year. Of course, if you have any questions, you don’t need to wait until our next programmed meeting. Just give me a call or send an email.

A note about our financial planning fees

We believe that trust is the basis of our ongoing relationship with you. That’s why we’re upfront about our service fees. At our first meeting, we discuss how we structure our fees to make sure you understand and feel comfortable with our arrangements. You’ll also receive regular updates on any fees and costs in managing your finances.
